COFFEEHOUSES

A hidden gem in Plymouth, Mount Olivet transforms into a cozy coffeehouse showcase every month. Featuring the Twin Cities best americana, acoustic folk, and blues singer-songwriters in up-close, fireside performances.

making a difference WITH local music

For the past fifteen years Mount Olivet has been showcasing local music while raising money for nonprofit organizations. We've raised over $17,000 to support ELCA World Hunger, The 30 Days Foundation, and Home Free.

In the past couple years we've refocused our coffee houses to benefit local organizations making an impact right here in the community. In 2015-2016, we raised more than $2,500 for Home Free, a local battered women's and children's shelter.

BEER & HYMNS: A REFORMATION CELEBRATION

Friday, October 27 // 7:00pm

The Higher Grounds season begins with a concert experience you won't soon forget! In celebration of the 500th year since the Reformation, we plan to kick it old school with some good, old congregational singing. That's right, YOU are part of the show! Join MO's renowned organist Alex Whitaker, together with a German-inspired dance band to both hear your favorite hymns and sing along. Best of all, Mount Olivet's Brew Crew will co-host the night - they have several different brews in the works for this special evening. Add appetizers and a few sweet treats, and you've got the perfect night: Beer and Hymns! The doors open at 7:00pm for food and beverages, with live music from 8-10pm. Be sure to invite friends/family/neighbors to share the evening with us - and buy your tickets SOON. Early birds receive a pint glass with their admission ticket.

SimpleGifts with Billy McLaughlin

Friday, December 15 // 7:30pm

As long-time fans will tell you, SimpleGifts makes musical magic by bringing a modern flair to traditional Christmas carols and hymns. Staying close to the heart of Christmas by avoiding commercial and pop holiday repertoire has become the trademark of this award winning six-piece ensemble. SimpleGifts combines violin, Celtic whistle and bagpipes, piano, acoustic guitar and percussion with angelic three part female vocals to create a "modern Old-World" sound. Billy McLaughlin and his team will bring their talents to Mount Olivet as we celebrate Jesus' birth through music. ALSO, The Mount Olivet Chancel Choir will join the ensemble in performing an original composition by Billy.

Listen to a sample here.
